QAQORTOQ
Colourful and located in a natural amphitheatre near the Davis Strait, lies the main town in South Greenland. As the oldest and largest town in the region, Qaqortoq is the vibrant cultural, educational and administrative centre of South Greenland.
Qaqortoq is the melting pot of South Greenland, where coastal and inland culture meet, the Arctic and Nordic influences mingle, and new ideas and perspectives develop. This unique blend makes Qaqortoq a truly special destination.
The fishermen, local hunters and the sealskin tannery Great Greenland clearly shows the intimate relationship with the riches of the sea. The gardens of Qaqortoq, the nearby sheepfarms, the impressive norse church ruin of Hvalsey and the Farming Research Station of Upernaviarsuk a short boat ride away all ties up with the farming culture of South Greenland.
In a series of images and texts we tell a story of the everyday life and unique experiences for visitors that Qaqortoq has to offer.
